DoorDash has agreed to pay $131.5 million to resolve a New York City government investigation that found the food delivery giant underpaid tens of thousands of workers or failed to pay them on time, city officials announced. Mayor Zohran Mamdani described the settlement as the largest labor enforcement action in the city's history.
Approximately 264,000 workers are set to receive backpay under the terms of the agreement. The settlement stems from an investigation tied to a 2023 city law designed to establish stronger pay protections for app-based food delivery workers, a workforce that has grown substantially alongside the rise of third-party delivery platforms.
